The United Kingdom will ban the sale of vehicles that run solely on gasoline by 2030 as part of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s pledge to usher in a “green industrial revolution.”

Johnson had announced the plan in a Tuesday article for the Financial Times in which he laid out ten points of action for a green overhaul of Britain’s economy that includes investing up to £500m in hydrogen energy sources, making the UK the “Saudi Arabia of wind” energy, and establishing a new world-leading industry in carbon capture and storage, amongst other measures.

In total, £12bn of government investment and potentially much more from the private sector is set to go into the economic overhaul that, according to BoJo, will create and support up to 250,000 green jobs.

While all gasoline and diesel vehicles will be off the market by 2030 under the plan, hybrid vehicles would be able to remain on the market until 2035.

An investment of more than £2.8bn in electric vehicles, with the wide distribution of charging points and the creation of long-lasting batteries will lead the way towards phasing out gas powered vehicles, says Johnson.

Auto-makers are expressing concern over the plan’s target date as it is a decade earlier than previous commitments made by the UK government.

Johnson also announced plans to establish a “task force net zero” that will commit to delivering net zero emissions by 2050.

“So let us meet the most enduring threat to our planet with one of the most innovative and ambitious programmes of job-creation we have known,” the Prime Minister ends his article with.

Build Back Better and the “Great Reset”

The move would be a part of a plan to “build back better” in wake of the economic destruction caused by the coronavirus and state enforced lockdowns.

“We will use science to rout the virus, and we must use the same extraordinary powers of invention to repair the economic damage from Covid-19, and to build back better,” Johnson wrote in the Tuesday article.

“Imagine Britain when a Green Industrial Revolution has helped to level up the country. You cook breakfast using hydrogen power before getting in your electric car, having charged it overnight from batteries made in the Midlands. Around you the air is cleaner; trucks, trains, ships and planes run on hydrogen or synthetic fuel.”

The plan aligns with the “Great Reset” ambitions of World Economic Forum founder Klaus Schwab who argues that the COVID-19 pandemic could be exploited to bring in a fourth industrial revolution.

As Anthony P. Mueller of Mises.org notes:

The “Great Reset” calls for global cooperation to attain goals such as “harnessing the fourth Industrial Revolution,” “restoring the health of the environment,“ “redesigning social contracts, skills, and jobs,” and “shaping the economic recovery.” As thematized at the October 20–23, 2020, “Jobs Reset Summit,” a “green recovery” from the covid-19 crisis promises a “green horizon.” The WEF summit in January 2021 will specifically address the transformations that are to come. The main topics include “stable climate,” “sustainable development,” a “zero carbon” economy, and agricultural production that would reduce cattle farming in tune with the global reduction of meat consumption.

As noted by James Delingpole in a recent column for Breitbart, “Build Back Better” is a solgan of the “Great Reset” which means “means totalitarian rule by a global, technocratic elite – as constrictive and immiserating as life under fascism or communism.”

“It sounds like a conspiracy theory but the people behind it are perfectly open about it,” Delingpole writes. “Why else would they dedicate a special issue of Time magazine to outlining their masterplan?”

Beyond the environmental and economic overhauls of the vision, mastermind of the “Great Reset” Klaus Schwab says it will also bring in a new era of transhumanism that sounds incredibly science fiction.

“What the fourth industrial revolution will lead to is a fusion of our physical, digital and biological identity,” Schwab told the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

“The Great Reset” recently trended on Twitter after video footage surfaced of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau saying the coronavirus pandemic provided an “opportunity for a reset.”

“Building back better means getting support to the most vulnerable while maintaining our momentum on reaching the 2030 agenda for sustainable development and the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals),” Trudeau said.

“This pandemic has provided an opportunity for a reset … this is our chance to accelerate our pre-pandemic efforts to re-imagine economic systems that actually address global challenges like extreme poverty, inequality and climate change,” he added.
