Speculation Over Fake Vaccinations Swirl as Video Shows Empty Syringe, Retractable Needle Used on Healthcare Workers
We expect social media fact checkers are rushing to become the world’s leading experts on syringes and vaccine administration to stomp out any sort of “vaccine hesitancy” that may stem from these videos …
Video of COVID-19 vaccines being administered with empty and retractable syringes has sent social media swirling with speculation that fake vaccinations are being staged during the public roll out of the Pfizer-BioNTech jab.
A video form KFOX14 El Paso, shows a University of Medical Center nurse prepped and jabbed with a syringe as part of the group of local nurses to first receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
When taking a closer look, it is clear that the syringe plunger is all the way down and never moves as the jab is administered. In other words, the syringe appears to be empty.
Oddly, both the nurse administering the shot and the nurse receiving it appear to equally conclude as the needle leaves the arm that an actual vaccination was given.
A health care professional would undoubtedly understand that nothing came out of the syringe considering the plunger didn’t move.
Although, if the syringe being empty was an accident, it is reasonable to expect the administer to act as if a vaccination occurred due to the filming of the event by local news and the potential embarrassment that could come along with such a mistake.
The University of Medical Center would issue a statement in light of the empty syringe jab, stating that the nurse “was not fully vaccinated,” implying that a partial vaccination had occurred.
UMC’s statement reads:
“After numerous reports emerged on social media claiming one of the five nurses receiving a vaccination on Tuesday did not receive a full dose of vaccine, we want to remove any doubt raised that he was not fully vaccinated and further strengthen confidence in the vaccination process.”
“The nurse in question today was vaccinated again. UMC has confirmed with the US Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) that re-vaccinating the nurse will not cause adverse effects. The nurse will need to return after three weeks to receive his second dose.”
Another video causing a stir on social media shows what appears to be a retractable syringe being used on a healthcare worker in footage from the BBC.
“Fakecination!” one Twitter user replied.
‘It’s a “hollywood syringe”!!! The needle retracts into the syringe when pushed on the arm and it malfunctioned and got stuck in the prop!” another said of the video.
One user would imply the shot was fake due to there being “no resistance from the skin.”
As mentioned by a few users on Twitter who appear to be in the medical field, syringes with retractable needles are actual medical devices that are used to protect those using the syringe from sticking themself or others with the needle.
At my hospital we have needles that when you have fully plunged the material into the muscle, you just have to push 2 mm more the needle self injects back into the body hence disappearing -so although this may be suspect- the technology definitely exists. Looked normal to me
