Officials Discuss Invoking 25th Amendment, Removing Trump
Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Pence urging him to remove President Trump from office.
Following a violent day in our nation’s capital, cabinet officials have begun contemplating a plan to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove President Trump from office before his term ends on January 20.
“Cabinet secretaries in President Donald Trump’s administration are discussing invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office,” reported CBS News Senior Foreign Affairs Correspondent Margaret Brennan.
“I’m talking about about actual members of the cabinet,” she specified.
White House officials claim Vice President Mike Pence has not been contacted about any plans to invoke the 25th Amendment.
Under the 25th Amendment, the Vice President and a majority of the President’s Cabinet would submit a letter to Congress declaring Trump “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.” Under that scenario, the Vice President would become acting President.
President Trump could object to the declaration, which would require Congress to make the final determination as to whether or not he should be removed from office.
In addition to current Cabinet officials and numerous Republican consultants and lobbyists, “senior State Department officials are encouraging 25th Amendment discussions along with other officials at the White House and other departments,” according to reporting from Axios.
Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Pence urging him to remove President Trump from office.
“Even in his video announcement this afternoon, President Trump revealed that he is not mentally sound and is still unable to process and accept the results of the 2020 election,” they argued.
“President Trump’s willingness to incite violence and social unrest to overturn the election results by force clearly meet this standard,” they added.
“For the sake of our democracy, we emphatically urge you to invoke the 25th Amendment and begin the process of removing President Trump from power. President has shown time and again that he is unwilling to protect our Democracy and carry out the duties of the office.”
Other Democrats were quick to pile on.
Calls to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove President Trump from office are nothing new.
After less than 100 days in office, the globalist mouthpiece The New Yorker reported members of Congress and Trump’s administration were holding secret talks about declaring him mentally unfit for office and invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him.
At the time, the focus was on “considerable speculation about Trump’s physical and mental health,” as well as his alleged unwillingness to disclose details about his health.
