New York City police busted a Halloween party with nearly 400 attendees on Saturday, citing social-distancing and large-gathering violations.

New York City Sheriff’s Department used surveillance video to spot a large number of people entering a warehouse at 23 Meadow St. in Williamsburg before sending officers to the scene around 1 a.m.

Inside, they found 387 people dancing, live performers, Halloween decorations, a DJ and three walk-up bars, reports the New York Post.

After shutting the gathering down, Police would charge 9 party organizers with multiple misdemeanors including emergency order and health code violations.

NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued Halloween guidelines over the weekend that cautioned New Yorkers about attempting to have fun at gatherings where social distancing and masks are not being put into practice.

“If you do go to an event and see a large crowd, or if there are others there who are not wearing face coverings or staying socially distanced, you should leave and find another way to celebrate Halloween,” the guidelines say.

The reaction to the bust online is giving the impression that most people are tired of authoritarian control of their social lives with some expressing their exhaustion with lockdown measures and pointing out double standards in police responses to social distancing orders.

Another Twitter user pointed out the big brother like surveillance that went into finding and stoping the party.
