Georgia Announces it will Recount by Hand Presidential Race Due to Very Close Margins
“It will be an audit, a recount, and a recanvass all at once.”
Georgia will manually hand recount all ballots cast in the presidential race due to the very small margin of votes separating Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden, the Secretary of State in Georgia announced Wednesday.
“With a margin being so close, it will require a full by-hand recount in each county,” Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said. “This will help build confidence. It will be an audit, a recount, and a recanvass all at once.”
Raffensperger first announced that Georgia would conduct a recount on November 5th when he told reporters that the state was too close to call and that out of 5 million votes cast, only a margin of a few thousand vote separated the Republican and Democrat tickets.
While the separation between Trump and Biden was closer than it is at the moment when the recount first announced on Nov. 5, according to the Associated Press Biden’s lead still remains small as he is currently ahead of Trump by only 14 thousands votes as of writing.
