Covid Package Gives Hundreds of Millions of Tax Dollars to Secure Foreign Borders
This legislative piece of special interest sausage takes very good care of foreign governments.
The Covid “relief” package, which was touted by lawmakers as a means of providing Americans financial security during the Covid-19 virus crisis, gives hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to foreign countries to secure their borders.
As part of the 5,593 page bill, that no elected representative had time to read before voting to pass Monday evening, $500,000,000 in taxpayer money will go ‘to provide assistance to the Government of Jordan to support the armed forces of Jordan and to enhance security along its borders.”
The bill also allocates $250 million in taxpayer money to the countries of Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and Oman for “enhanced border security.”
As we reported yesterday, the Covid “stimulus” package passed by the bicameral congress Monday night is a blatant special interest, lobbyist written piece of legislative sausage that hands billions of dollars to foreign governments and other insider initiatives while patting the American pleb on the head with a $600 check that is unlikely to cover the most basic of essential household expenses.
It also provides a slew of tax breaks that will have no benefits to the average American and in some cases forces tax payers to pick up tabs that have nothing to do with them.
Amongst other waste …
The direct payments Americans are expected to receive next week amount to half the relief provided by the CARES act passed by congress earlier in the year that provided $1,200 payments to most individuals.
The $300 in unemployment payments provided by the bill is also half of the amount of those given to unemployed Americans under the CARES act.
